RG Nature Images
Welcome
This website offers quality photographs of native flora such as groundcovers, lilies, orchids, grasses, rushes and sedges as well as native fauna images such as birds, butterflies and skinks from the Stony Rises and Western Basalt Plains of South Eastern Victoria. These mainly grassland eco- systems once supported a diversity of native flora and fauna.
A description by an early settler described the Western Basalt Plains
The country around here is enchantingly beautiful – extensive rich plains all around with gently sloping hills in the distance, all thinly wooded and having the appearance of an immense park. The grasses, flowers and herbs that cover the plains are of every variety that can be imagined.

Today, only less than one percent of native grassland systems survive on public land, these being mostly roadsides and reserves. If this website helps in some small way to bring awareness of the beauty of our native flora and fauna, the photographers will be happy.
The website will be regularly updated as more images become available.
